Dona Bertarelli Philanthropy announces its support for the Portail des Nations, a new United Nations visitor centre opening in June 2026 at a newly created complex next to the iconic Flag Alley at the United Nations Office at Geneva.
Developed by the Portail des Nations Foundation, under the leadership of Ivan Pictet, the Portail des Nations is designed to make the work of multilateral cooperation more visible and accessible to a broad public. Through an immersive experience, complemented by spaces for learning and dialogue, the centre will offer visitors insight into the role of international organisations and the collective responses developed to address global challenges.
Geneva has long brought together governments, international organisations and experts working across a wide range of global issues, forming what is known as International Geneva. With the Portail des Nations, it will offer a natural and unique setting to connect a wider public with the institutions and processes that shape collective action.
Through this support, Dona Bertarelli Philanthropy hopes to contribute to making multilateralism more tangible and accessible, while also reinforcing awareness of critical global challenges such as environmental conservation and the need for collective action to address them.
“Multilateralism today is no longer a given—it is both a choice and a discipline. It calls on us to engage, listen, and act together, because shared challenges like biodiversity loss—on which our food systems, health, and future rely—require more cooperation, not less. Supporting the Portail des Nations in Geneva reflects my long-standing commitment to these values and to making them more accessible to a wider public.” Dona Bertarelli.
The Portail des Nations is expected to welcome more than 200,000 visitors and spans approximately 2,000 square metres, following more than 15 years of conception and development.
